Man arrested over Auckland woman's death

Counties Manukau Police on Wednesday evening arrested a man following a homicide investigation into the death of 24-year-old Arishma Chand on Sunday morning.

Counties Manukau Police on Wednesday evening arrested a man following a homicide investigation into the death of 24-year-old Arishma Chand in Manurewa on Sunday morning.

A 41-year-old man from Flat Bush has been charged with murder.

He is due to appear on Thursday in the Manukau District Court.

Police said as the matter was before court they would be unable to comment further.

Ms Chand called her parents in the early hours of Sunday morning, frightened that there was someone outside her South Auckland home.

She had just returned home from a party.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived to find their 24-year-old daughter had been murdered.
