Harry Judd told his now-wife Izzy he was going to marry her within the first few weeks of them knowing each other

The McFly drummer has confessed he was desperate to prove to Izzy that he wasn't going to "mess her around" and wanted to make the declaration of love to show her how much he cared for her

He said: "I knew I had to prove to Izzy that I wouldn’t mess her around. I was in a boyband, living a crazy lifestyle where every song went to No 1. I’d been single for a year before we met and, yes, I’d had fun, but it was an empty existence. Despite McFly’s clean-cut image, it was different behind the scenes.

"I’d dabbled in marijuana at school, but as we became famous it turned into an addiction. All these amazing things were happening, yet all I could think about was going home to get stoned. We were in America when I realised I needed help. As soon as we landed in the UK, a car took me to the Priory ...

"I met Izzy a few months after that and I was in a much better frame of mind. I loved that she was this kind, normal person with no interest in feeding off my fame. I told her early on that I’d marry her one day. It was a stupid thing to say when we were so young, but I just knew. Everything felt so easy."

Izzy admits she wasn't looking for romance when she first set eyes on the 'One For The Radio' hitmaker but says their chemistry was "instant".

She added to The Sunday Times magazine: "I’d recently come out of a long-term relationship when I met Harry. I wasn’t looking to date anyone - and I definitely wasn’t a McFly superfan - but our chemistry was instant. I kept thinking, 'Come on Izzy, he’s in a boyband, he’s probably got six girlfriends,' but as I got to know him, I realised we had the same morals. It felt like there was a magnet between us and I couldn’t picture myself without him."
