Jennifer Garner doesn't want to "lump all men" together after a number of Hollywood stars and filmmakers were accused of sexual misconduct

The 45-year-old actress doesn't think it is fair that all men get put into the same category but is "excited" to see how the film industry improves as a result of those who are guilty being brought to justice

Speaking during a Hollywood Foreign Press Association conference, she said: "We can’t lump all men into [the same category]. We can’t just assume that every man has done something awful or that every man is guilty; due process is important and has to take place.

"Things have to come out in the open in order to be dealt with, and this is definitely one of those times. There are a lot of really smart people asking tough questions, and I feel excited to see what the outcome will be."

Jennifer's estranged husband Ben Affleck was previously accused of touching Hilarie Burton inappropriately during an MTV interview in 2003. He has apologised for what happened, though he doesn't remember the incident, and has vowed to be more "accountable" for his actions.

He shared: "What I was accused of by a woman was of touching her breast while giving her a hug. I don't remember it, but I absolutely apologised for it. I certainly don't think she's lying or making it up.

"It's just the kind of thing we have to as men, as we become more aware of this, be more mindful of our behaviour and hold ourselves accountable and say, 'If I was ever part of the problem, I want to change. I want to be part of the solution.' And to not shy away from these awkward or strange encounters we might have have had."
