Luke Keary signs new Roosters NRL deal

Five-eighth Luke Keary has signed a three-year NRL contract extension with the Sydney Roosters.

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

The Sydney Roosters have locked away five-eighth Luke Keary, shoring up their halves stocks after Mitchell Pearce's exit.

The club on Tuesday announced Keary had inked a three-year contract extension which will keep him at Bondi Junction until the end of 2021.

After an outstanding first year with the Roosters in 2017, ex-South Sydney premiership winner Keary will form a formidable halves partnership with marquee recruit Cooper Cronk in 2018.

"I've found a home here at the Roosters and, each day I come in, I'm learning something new, so I'm really glad to extend my time here," Keary said.

Cronk's arrival at the Tricolours had forced Pearce to seek a release from his contract, however Keary's extension gives the club stability in the halves for several years to come.

"Luke is a quality person who loves his footy and is always working on his game," Roosters coach Trent Robinson said.

"Barring the nine minutes he spent in the sin bin, Luke didn't miss a moment of game time for us in 2017 and that's a testament to how hard he works."

The Roosters are also expected to announce the re-signing of co-skipper Jake Friend on a two-year deal in coming days.
