Aaron Carter wants to adopt a child

The 30-year-old singer - who came out as bisexual earlier this year - has admitted his ultimate "goal" in life is to be a father, and he has contemplated going through the legal process to become a child's guardian because he wants a family "so bad"

Speaking to Us Weekly about his future plans, he said: "I was thinking about adopting. I want kids so bad. My goal is to be a father."

And the 'I Want Candy' hitmaker has admitted it wasn't until he hit 30 that he started thinking about parenthood.

He added: "I turned 30 and I'm like, 'Alright, my resolution is to have a kid.' But not just a kid. A beautiful woman or man, because we can have kids too. But it has to be [with] the right person."

"So I'm 30 and my dad was popping out kids by the time he was 30 so I better hurry up! But I do really want to have kids."

Aaron - who has reportedly left rehab last month after two months in the centre - hopes he can "transcend any of the shortcomings" his mother, Jane, and late father Robert went through with his brood, which saw them lose their daughter Leslie in 2012 aged 25.

Aaron explained: "I really want to be a dad and I want to transcend any of the shortcomings that my parents experienced growing up with us. We lost our sister Leslie, but we had a big family."

Aaron and his older brother Nick Carter, 37, have had a turbulent relationship over recent months, but the pair have since reconciled.

Although Backstreet Boys band member and his younger sibling have moved on from their bitter feud, Aaron still thinks Nick can be a "punk" at times.

He said: "I love [Nick], but he can be a punk sometimes. But I will be in his corner no matter what. I love my brother and I really hope he's just happy, healthy, doing the same thing and focusing on his career."
