    Lanes reopen on Southern Motorway

All lanes have reopened on Auckland's Southern Motorway after emergency teams cleared two crashes, but traffic remains banked up.

All lanes are open again on Auckland's Southern Motorway after a person was earlier seriously injured in a crash between a motorbike and car.

The crash occurred about 2.30pm on the motorway's northbound lanes, near Takanini, police say.

The injured person was taken to Middlemore Hospital for treatment.

The crash led to the closure of all northbound lanes with emergency services opening a temporary lane through the roadworks to allow traffic through.

However, all northbound lanes are now open again, although traffic remains banked up, police say.

Southbound motorists were also affected by a crash at the Hill Road off-ramp, causing heavy congestion.

Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
