    Man drowns snorkeling in Southland

    A 68-year-old man has drowned while snorkeling at Kawakaputa Bay in Southland.


    A 68-year-old man has drowned while snorkeling at Kawakaputa Bay in Southland, police say.

    He was found about 100 metres from the shore at Wakapatu Beach at 5.30pm on Saturday.

    The death has been referred to the coroner.
