One dead in Masterton road crash

One person has died and another is in hospital with moderate injuries after a collision between a motorbike and a ute in Masterton.

One person has died after a collision between a motorbike and a ute in Masterton.

Emergency services were alerted around 5.20pm on Monday to the crash on McKinstry Avenue, at the intersection with Masterton Castlepoint Rd.

Police say one person died at the scene and another was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

The death is the second of the New Year on New Zealand's roads, after a Tauranga man was killed in a two-car crash on Maungatapu Bridge about 2.15am.
