    Serious crashes close roads near Auckland

    Two people have received serious injuries in separate road crashes at Kaukapakapa and Matakana, north of Auckland.


    Two people have been seriously injured in separate road crashes north of Auckland.

    One crash involved two vehicles on Kaipara Coast Highway (State Highway 16) at Kaukapakapa.

    The highway between Henley Road and Carol Leon Avenue has been closed and diversions have been put in place.

    Police are also at the scene of a collision involving a car and motorcycle in Matakana.

    That incident happened at the intersection of Matakana Road and Riverglade Lane, and Matakana Road has been closed.

    Police say motorists should avoid the area.
