A 54-year-old man who lost his life in a paraglider crash near Wanaka has been named by police.
David Michael Jongsma, from Hawea Flat, died on Mt Roy on Tuesday.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash just before 3pm and a rescue helicopter reached the site a couple of hours later.
A cliff rescue team was sent to recover the body of Mr Jongsma.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed rescue helicopter pilot Dean Voelkerling, from the Northland Emergency Services Trust, was one of the victims of the New Year's Day plane crash south of Dargaville.
