    Murder charge after Tauranga death

    Police have charged a 26-year-old man with murder in relation to the death of a man who was dropped at Tauranga Hospital on Wednesday.


    Police have charged a 26-year-old man with murder in relation to the death of a man who was dropped at Tauranga Hospital on Wednesday.

    The victim, 58-year-old Lance Wayne Waite, was dropped at the hospital at about midday with critical injuries, but died a short time later.

    On Thursday, police and the Armed Offenders Squad made the arrest at a home on Ngatai Road in the Tauranga suburb of Otumoetai.

    The arrested man will appear in Tauranga District Court on Friday.

    Detective Inspector Lewis Warner said police would like to hear from anyone who was in the Wilrose Place, Gate Pa, area on Wednesday.
