    Man dies when hit on Canterbury road

    A man has survived a car crash into a roadside ditch in Canterbury, only to be struck and killed by a passing vehicle as he scrambled free of his wrecked car.


    A man has died after being hit by a vehicle on a Canterbury road only moments after surviving a car crash.

    The man and another person were in a car that crashed into a ditch and rolled on Leeston Road in Springston at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, police say.

    Both survived and were able to get get out of the car, but the man was then struck by a vehicle travelling along the same road.

    He died at the scene. Police are investigating.
