Prince's tribute concert will include unreleased material

The 'Purple Rain' singer - who passed away in April 2016 at the age of 57 - will be honoured with a concert event called 'Prince: Live on the Big Screen' that will take place on April 21 at the Target Centre, Minneapolis

The concert promises "newly remastered and never-before-released audio and video of Prince accompanied live on the Target Center stage by a super-group of musicians who performed alongside Prince throughout his legendary career. The live experience will showcase Prince in his own inimitable sound and style, highlighting the incendiary energy he brought to each performance".

There will be no holograms involved though, as a spokesperson confirmed: "It’s Prince on the screen and the musicians live in front of him on stage."

The concert will be part of Celebration 2018, a four-day event in April to honour Prince's life and legacy and will take place at Paisley Park between April 19 & 22.

It comes after Prince's sister Tyka Nelson promised his vault of secret music - which contains various demos, unheard songs, live recordings and footage of rehearsals and concerts - will be released one day.

She said: "It was always Prince's plan to release those songs. I want what Prince wants. We have to preserve everything. So as soon as we can release it, don't worry - we sure will ... If he wants his music released then it will be released. If he wants a museum, then that's what we are doing now. Prince also wanted a school. I plan to make it a reality. He wanted a music school in north Minneapolis for underprivileged kids who wanted to play music. He started the design before he passed and he told me his mission was the school."
