Liam Payne has revealed he would be happy to reconcile with former band mate Zayn Malik at the BRIT Awards next month

The ‘Pillowtalk’ hitmaker fell out with his former One Direction band mates - including Liam, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan - when he decided to leave the band in early 2015, and although they have barely spoken to each other since, 24-year-old Liam has admitted he would be keen to patch up their friendship at the glitzy award ceremony

When asked by the Daily Star Sunday newspaper if he plans to catch up with Zayn, 25, at the awards, he said: “If he’s there and wants to hang with me, then sure.”

Liam has been nominated for two awards, British Single and British Artist Video of the Year, for his debut solo single ‘Strip That Down’, whilst Zayn and Taylor Swift’s collaborative effort ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ is also up for the Video gong.

It isn’t just Liam and Zayn whose solo efforts have earned them a nomination at the ceremony either, as 23-year-old Harry’s video for his debut single ‘Sign of the Times’ will see him battle it out against his band mates in the same video category.

Meanwhile, Liam’s decision to try to patch things up with Zayn comes after fellow band member Louis Tomlinson, 26, admitted he had “cleared the air” with the ‘Still Got Time’ singer.

He said: "We got back in touch with each other and kind of cleared the air and talked everything through. So we're mates again, I suppose. Like anything like that, it takes time. But it was nice that we had an opportunity to clear the air and be adults about it, I suppose.”

The ‘Back To You’ hitmaker got back in touch with Zayn after his late mother Johanna Deakin - who passed away in December 2016 after suffering with cancer - pushed him to reconcile with Zayn before her passing.

Louis admitted: "My mum said, 'You've got to get back in contact with Zayn. Life's too f***ing short'.

"A mother's intuition is just f***ing crazy. It always felt supernatural to me. My mum always knew what I was feeling and what I wanted.

"I can't stand to hold a grudge with anyone. It doesn't sit with me right.

"If there is any animosity, just clear the air. I met up with him and it was nice."
