Kiwi tennis player Erin Routliffe is through to the second round of her ITF Futures event in the Egyptian tourist town of Sharm El Sheikh.
The 22-year-old trumped French opponent Irina Ramialison 3-6 6-4 7-5 on Tuesday (local time) in a match that went for two-and-a-half hours.
Kiwi compatriot Jade Lewis, meanwhile, will play Belgian Britt Gelikens in the first round on Wednesday after battling through qualifying.
In her first full season as a professional, 19-year-old Lewis won her final round qualifying match 6-3 6-7 6-4 over Thailand's Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai.
However she was knocked out of doubles contention on Wednesday alongside American Sarah Lee, losing to Briton Emily Webley and Pole Katarzyna Kawa.
It's the final tournament for the Kiwis before they assemble in Bahrain for the Fed Cup Asia-Oceania Group Two qualifying tournament in February.
