Kiwis in ITF Futures event second round

Kiwi tennis young gun Jade Lewis is through to the second round of her ITF Futures event in Egypt, joining compatriot Erin Routliffe.

Kiwi tennis young gun Jade Lewis is through to the second round of her ITF Futures event in the Egyptian tourist town of Sharm El Sheikh.

The 19-year-old Lewis, who progressed through qualifying, defeated first-round Belgian opponent Britt Geukens 3-6 6-2 6-0 on Thursday morning (NZT).

She'll now face sixth-seeded Turk Berfu Cengiz in the second round.

Lewis follows Kiwi compatriot Erin Routliffe into the tournament's second round after the 22-year-old beat Irina Ramialison on Wednesday.

It's the final tournament for the Kiwis before they assemble in Bahrain for the Fed Cup Asia-Oceania Group Two qualifying tournament in February.
