A 30-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in Dunedin District Court charged with murder following the death of a teenager in the city over the weekend.
Amber-Rose Rush, 16, was found at a house in Clermiston Avenue, in the suburb of Corstorphine, on Saturday.
The man was granted interim name suppression in court on Monday.
As he was taken out of the courtroom one man in the gallery pointed to him and said, "you're dead", according to the Otago Daily Times.
"The man was known to the deceased, and police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the death," police said in a statement.
The man will next appear in the High Court at Dunedin on February 20.
