    Awhitu Park victim named

Police have named the father who died after getting into trouble at Manukau Harbour with his two children.

Police have named the father who died after getting caught by the rising tide at a park near Auckland.

Imtiaz Aziz, 40, from Papakura, was with his two children at Awhitu Park, on the southwest shores of Manukau Harbour, on Sunday.

The trio had walked out to an island 200m off the coast to fish and got caught when the tide rose as they made their way back, according to reports. Mr Aziz's children survived.

His death has been referred to the coroner.
