September date for Sumner murder trial

Three people will head to trial in September after a man was found beaten in the car park of Christchurch's Sumner Surf Lifesaving Club and later died.

A new trial date has been set for three people accused of murder after a man was found beaten in the car park of a Christchurch surf lifesaving club last year.

Deborah Jean Tihema, 39, Cyle Robert Jetson, 21, and 16-year-old Moses Eli Hurrell appeared in the High Court at Christchurch on Friday as their new trial date was set for September 10.

The trial was originally set for February, however it has been delayed due to pre-trial issues.

In March, Pierclaudio Raviola was found by members of the public outside the Sumner Surf Lifesaving Club with serious head injuries and later died in hospital.

The alleged offenders were originally charged with assault but later had their charges upgraded to murder.
