Thieves drag woman along street: police

Police say a woman has been dragged along a Christchurch street after three bag snatchers drove past and grabbed her handbag on Monday.

A woman has been dragged along a Christchurch street after three bag snatchers drove past and grabbed her handbag, police say.

The incident happened when the 26-year-old woman was walking on Niven Road in the Wainoni area on Monday at about 6.50pm and was approached by three men in a car.

One of the men attempted to take her bag as the car started driving off with the woman still clinging to her bag, police said.

She was then dragged a "significant distance" until she ended up on Breezes Road.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them.
