Michael B. Jordan considers Kendrick Lamar to the the "voice of the people"

The 31-year-old actor stars as Erik Killmonger in the new 'Black Panther' movie, and Michael believes the film has been given extra credibility because Kendrick and his colleagues at the Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) record label appear on its soundtrack

Of the reaction to the new Marvel film, Michael said: "I think it's amazing.

"It's doing really well. The fact that TDE and Kendrick got behind it and really curated the album, I think we were extremely lucky for that. He's the voice of the people right now.

"His message and what he brings to the table and who Kendrick is, is the essence of what a Black Panther is. For him to be a part of the movie and soundtrack is really, really important to us."

'Black Panther: The Album' is already proving to be a hit with music and movie fans.

And Michael revealed he considers the record to be a "beautiful"

thing, because it's been inspired by the themes of the film.

The Hollywood star told Billboard: "He's a true artist and he's a collaborator.

"He saw the movie and got inspired. A lot of the songs are inspired by the film. It's a big collaboration. So, that's how it kind of works.

You get artists from all walks of life to come together and create this one thing, it's beautiful."

Meanwhile, Michael recently confessed that he thought his career was over at the age of 14.

The actor was thrilled to land a role in season one of 'The Wire', alongside Idris Elba and Dominic West, when he was just a teenager - but was devastated when his character Wallace was killed off after just 12 episodes.

He recently shared: "[Creator] David Simon came over and said, 'Look, man, I love you. Everybody loves you. But we've got to kill you.' I started crying. I thought my acting career was over. I told everyone that I might never work again."
