Kim Cattrall's 'Sex and the City' love interest Jason Lewis has slammed the star for her negative comments toward co-star Sarah Jessica Parker

The 61-year-old actress - who starred as Samantha Jones in the HBO series and its two movie spin-offs - made headlines recently after she claimed her former co-star Sarah Jessica had attempted to capitalise on the recent death of Kim's brother by trying to redeem her "nice girl persona" when she offered her condolences on Instagram

And now, her on-screen love interest Jason, who played Samantha's boyfriend Smith Jarrod, has seemingly leapt to Sarah Jessica's defence.

When asked about the feud during an interview with American news channel KTLA 5, he said: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Listen, I would have to say that Sarah was always just so lovely and such a consummate professional, and I think that people should remember their graciousness and the things that have been given to them, and I'm going to stop there because I've got nothing good to say."

Interviewer Sam Rubin then asked him point blank if he was "team Sarah", and he replied: "I might just have to say yeah. What a gracious lady; she was always so good to me."

Jason, 46, isn't the only star to have come to Sarah Jessica's defence either, as her 'Divorce' co-star Molly Shannon and close friend Andy Cohen have both shared kind words about her since Kim's damning comments.

Earlier this month, Kim tragically lost her brother Christopher and took to Instagram to share the news with her followers, which prompted 52-year-old Sarah Jessica to leave a comment expressing her condolences.

But the 'Police Academy' actress took to Instagram again a few days later to slam Sarah Jessica, as she wrote: "My Mom asked me today 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.

"Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona. (sic)"
