Taylor ruled out of deciding one-dayer

    Roos Taylor has not fail

Star New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has failed a fitness test and will not play against England in the deciding one-day cricket international in Christchurch.

The 34-year-old, who carved a match-winning 181 not out in the fourth match in Dunedin on Wednesday, injured his quadricep while batting in that match.

On Saturday morning, Taylor was only able to run at 70 per cent without discomfort.

"After discussion between Taylor and medical staff, a joint decision was made that he would not be able to play in the deciding match [as he] would be at high risk of significantly aggravating the injury ahead of the upcoming test series," a statement from NZ Cricket said.
