    Teen rape accused appears in court

    A 16 year-old has appeared in the Hamilton Youth Court facing 16 charges after allegedly attacking a mother and her daughter in their St Andrews home.


    A teenager accused of attacking a mother and daughter in their St Andrews home has appeared in the Hamilton Youth Court, facing 16 charges.

    The 16-year-old is accused of breaking into the Croall Crescent address on April 7 and assaulting the women before fleeing the scene.

    He has been charged with rape, wounding with intent, three counts of indecent assault, two charges each of kidnapping and threatening to kill the women, and one of burglary.

    Judge Denise Clark rejected his application for bail.

    She remanded him in custody to a youth justice facility until his next appearance at the Hamilton Youth Court on May 2.
