    Richard Gere has got married

The 'Pretty Woman' actor tied the knot for the third time when he and Alejandra Silva - who has son Albert, five, with ex-husband Govind Friedland - wed in a low-key secret civil ceremony earlier this month

According to Britain's HELLO! magazine, Richard - who was previously married to Cindy Crawford and has son Homer, 18, with second wife Carey Lowell - and Alejandra, 35, are planning to celebrate their nuptials with a family party at their New York home on May 6.

Alejandra previously revealed she and the 68-year-old actor, who is Buddhist, believe karma brought them together.

She said: "Everyone can see there's an age difference and everyone knows what it means to be a Hollywood star, but there is such a big karmic force, the problems disappear."

The couple first met when Alejandra was a "little girl" and the actor borrowed a boat from her businessman father, Ignacio Silva, and they then reconnected in 2014 in Positasno, Italy, where she was running a luxury hotel.

She recalled: "Richard has known my family for 15 years. He asked to borrow my dad's boat to shoot a commercial he was going to be in when I was just a little girl.

"When I saw him again in Positano, I reminded him of the story.

"Our karma brought us together as soon as we saw each other because we've known each other over the course of many lives - that's how we both feel anyway."

She has also credited the 'Unfaithful' actor for giving her life meaning.

She previously said: "I was a little lost, without light, and knowing him gave meaning to my life. It was feeling that someone was reaching out and showing me my true path."
