Ngati Tawa is one of the main applicants asking for a water conservation order for Te Waikoropupu Springs, to safeguard the spot from commercial ventures.
More than two thousand submissions have been made to a Special Tribunal Hearing.
Ngati Tama representative Margaret Wilson says the weight of submissions gives them some confidence of a win.
She says the iwi has taken steps to protect Pupu Springs as far as it can.
Ms Little says they're tired of having to react to individual applications, and need an overarching directive.
