Drunk boaties fined
Two drunk boaties have been fined over five thousand dollars and ordered to pay more than a thousand dollars costs.

The Marlborough District Council prosecuted the men after the local harbour master and police were called out to a launch drifting out of control in Picton Harbour after hitting rocks.
The found the two intoxicated men on board.
Christchurch men Craig Burrell and Martin Peckham were charged under the Maritime Transport Act which prohibits dangerous activity involving ships.
Maritime NZ Director, Keith Manch says a launch drifting out of control in Picton Harbour is a recipe for disaster and puts people on other vessels at risk.
He says the sentence is a message to others not to drink and drive a boat.
