Research studies have found chemicals in some sunscreens are harmful to ocean ecosystems.
Now Hawaii is set to become the first state in the US to ban the sale of sunscreens which contain oxybenzone and octinoxate.
The chemicals stay in the water after people go swimming and via discharges from wastewater treatment plants and contribute to coral bleaching.
Experts say about 14,000 tons of sunscreen enters the world's reefs every year.
