The Highlanders have made a strong start to their Super Rugby match against the Lions in Dunedin

The Highlanders have made a strong start to their Super Rugby match against the Lions in Dunedin

Three tries in the first half saw the home side take an early lead, before the visitors hit back late in the first spell.

A short time ago the Highlanders were leading 19-15 at half time.

The Crusaders are back on top in Super Rugby after staging an amazing comeback against the Waratahs in Christchurch.

The visitors stunned the defending champions early on in the match scoring four first-half tries to race out to a 29-nil lead.

But three late first half tries the home side saw them close in on the Waratahs and eventually take the lead late in the second half.

    The full time score 31-29.

The Warriors have been outclassed by the Sydney Roosters in their NRL match at Mount Smart Stadium.

The visitors have held the home side scoreless, running away with a 14 point first half lead to beat the Warriors 32-nil at full time.

Australian Rugby is doing all it can to avoid being used as a test case for freedom of speech within the country.

The organisation is coming under increased pressure to discipline Israel Folau for his anti-gay posts on social media.

However CEO Raelene Castle says it's not a black and white situation, as it covers inclusiveness, religion and free speech.

She says they don't want to be the example used for what is right and wrong on such complicated topics.

Kiwi sailor Sam Meech is still in contention despite a disappointing penultimate day at the world cup sailing event in France.

The laser racer finished 17th and eighth during the day finishing in third overall.

The 27-year-old is just seven points back from Australian leader Matt Wearn, with two races to come on the final day.

The other Kiwi in the field Andrew McKenzie is in tenth.
