The waterfront pathway between Herd Street just north of Queens Wharf will be called Ara Moana, and the waterfront lane between Bunny and Brandon Street will be renamed Lady Elizabeth Lane.
Wellington City Council's Regulatory Processes Committee has just approved the changes.
Port Nicholson Block Trust Co-Chair Peter Jackson says mana whenua are throwing their support behind the new names.
He says they're appropriate because the literal translation of Ara Moana is "path by the sea" and Lady Elizabeth commemorates the first Interislander ferry.
