Clutha mayor says deep south facing different kind of housing crisis
Clutha District's mayor says New Zealand's deep south is facing a different kind of housing crisis from the rest of the country
17 May 2018
With today's Budget announcement, he hopes problems unique to the south will be addressed.
Bryan Cadogan says the biggest issue is the affordability and lack of housing.
He says the south's housing crisis is different from that in places like Auckland, with freezing winter temperatures a danger to people sleeping rough.
Cadogan says this is the first housing crisis in the country's southern regions he's ever seen.
