The Garvan Institute says good gains in cancer research are expected with today's national sleep-in

The Australian-based medical research facility is teaming up with Vodafone for New Zealand's National Sleep-in Day.
Those taking part get to sleep in an extra hour, during which time an app will utilise their smartphone's processing power to speed up analysis of cancer research data.
Garvan Institute's Dr Samantha Oakes says the Dream Lab app has been used in Australia since 2015 and provided great support.
She says more than 150-thousand Australians used the app which helped half the time it would have taken to solve a research project.
