American driver Ed Carpenter has secured pole position for next week's Indianapolis 500

Frenchman Simon Pagenaud and Australian Will Power will start outside Carpenter on the front-row of the grid.

Scott Dixon will start from the outside of row three after posting the slowest four-lap average in the top nine shoot-out.

Series leader Josef Newgarden will start from fourth.
