The Southern Steel have secured their third win of the ANZ Premiership season with a win over the Northern Mystics in Invercargill
21 May 2018
Despite leading by just one goal at the half time break, the Southerners were able extend their lead slightly in the second half to win by four goals.
The final score 56-52 to the Steel.
Richie Mo'unga's vowing to push Beauden Barrett for the All Blacks first-choice playmaker role.
The Crusaders first five is in his first home camp with the All Blacks ahead of next month's French test series.
Mo'unga is unlikely to crack the match day 23 initially, with Barrett to start and Damian McKenzie likely to be the bench cover given his utility value.
But that's not fazing Mo'unga.
All Blacks loose forward Vaea Fifita and centre Matt Proctor are the most serious of the Hurricanes' injury worries ahead of their crunch Super Rugby derby against the Crusaders this weekend.
Fifita left the field with a shoulder injury in the win over the Reds while Proctor has copped a sternum issue.
Assistant coach Jason Holland says Proctor is still feeling the effects.
Lock Michael Fatialofa is expected to be cleared of a knee injury.
Supercars driver Scott McLaughlin's hoping to link up with another Kiwi Scott while he's in the United States.
McLaughlin's left for the USA for a couple of weeks, to pursue wedding preparations while Supercars takes a break before the next event in Darwin.
He'll also head to the Indy500 next Monday, which fellow-New Zealander Scott Dixon is racing in for Chip Ganassi.
Scott McLaughlin says he isn't ruling out racing in Indy one day.
