A Far North couple says they've been hit by a building scam that's forced them to demolish their home

A Far North couple says they've been hit by a building scam that's forced them to demolish their home

Auckland-based company Global Fibre8 sold China-made K3T wall panels for Karen and Randolph Urlich to use in their dream home.

The panels were said to be incredibly strong... but the couple was forced to knock their home down and start again after cracks started forming in the walls.

Karen Urlich says it's not an ideal situation, but at least they can afford it.

However Ms Urlich says she's more concerned about others who may have bought the product and are in a worse financial situation than them.

The couple are taking legal action against the company, and the Far North District Council... which signed the product off.

Global Fibre8 has been contacted for comment.
