Sarah Silverman believes her friend Louis C.K. can make a comeback following his sex scandal

Sarah, 47, and Louis, 50, have been pals for over two decades after coming up on the New York stand-up comedy scene together and 'The Book of Henry' actress has publicly criticised Louis for his inappropriate behaviour which he was exposed for in 2017

The comedian was accused by several women, including Sarah's own sister Laura, of exposing himself and masturbating in front of them often without consent and he released a statement admitting the allegations were true.

Although Sarah is still angry and disappointed with her pal, she has not cut him out of life and believes he should be granted a second chance in his career as it is up to audiences to decide whether or not they want him back.

When asked if Louis can come back in an interview with the June 2018 Comedy issue of America's GQ magazine, she said: "I think that there are people who were caught and there were people who were not caught, but the important thing is that they are forever changed. And if that's the case, I don't see any reason why they can't continue being artists. Now, whether they're popular artists or not is up to the audience. I have compassion. There are people that just deny everything they're accused of and they continue to be the politicians or the filmmakers that they are. And there are people that come and say, I'm guilty of these things, and I'm wrong, and I want to be changed from this. And yet those are the ones that kind of are excommunicated forever. He's my brother, so it's hard. I may not have a very clear perspective on it, but I'm trying to. People are very sure about what is right and wrong until it comes to their front door."

Sarah admits she has wrestled with her conscious about Louis' behaviour and accepts her feelings about his actions are somewhat complicated.

She said: "Life is complicated. Love is even more complicated. But you can't not do it. I don't have some definitive sound bite or nutshell of how I feel about it, even to myself. But I'm also OK with that."

Sarah famously addressed Louis' behaviour on the first season her late night talk show 'I Love You, America with Sarah Silverman', broadcast on streaming service Hulu, in which she asked: "Can you love someone who did bad things?"
