A power outage in Australia has emerged as the cause of the meltdown which hit BNZ customers

People were locked out of ATMs, EFTPOS, internet banking and even physical bank branches for several hours yesterday.
Communications Manager Cliff Joiner says one of the National Australia Bank's Melbourne systems lost power, causing failures on both sides of the Tasman.
The NAB - BNZ's parent company - is promising to compensate its customers if they suffered a financial loss.
But Mr Joiner says BNZ hasn't yet made a decision on compensation.
