The Selwyn mayor is hoping businesses in the district will be able to retain more spending

The district is hosting its first tourism summit today, with local tourism operators looking to cater further to growing international markets.

Sam Broughton says it's a chance for people to understand what other businesses are out there - and form partnerships.

He says they're aiming to work out where they're at today - and where they could be if they did things smartly and together.
