An increase in prison suicides has been put down to a system under significant strain

The PSA says the nationwide prison population has increased by more than 14-hundred over the past two years.
Organiser Willie Cochrane says overcrowding and substandard rehabilitation efforts are taking their toll.
He says a new, modern prison with around a thousand beds is needed to help tackle the problem.
The number of suicides and attempted suicides in prison has increased markedly over the past few months.
