Alec Baldwin thinks he would “1,000 percent” beat Donald Trump if he ran for President in 2020

The 60-year-old actor plays a parody version of the current US president on ‘Saturday Night Live’, and believes that he could do a better job of running the country than the controversial figure head, as he’s confident he would beat him in a race to the White House

He said: “If I ran, I would win. I would absolutely win. I 1,000 percent would win. It would be the funniest, most exciting, craziest campaign.”

But that “if” is a big one, as Alec admits he doesn’t want to quit hosting ABC gameshow ‘Match Game’ or miss out on any time with his brood, Ireland, 22, Carmen, four, Rafael, two, Leonardo, 20 months, and Romeo, two weeks.

When asked why he isn’t considering running for President, Alec - who has Ireland with ex-wife Kim Basinger, and his other children with current wife Hilaria Baldwin - said: “I have to do ‘Match Game’. I don’t want to miss summer – boy would I miss summer with my kids.”

Although the ‘Boss Baby’ actor isn’t keen on running himself, he’s confident the next election will produce “great” candidates.

Speaking on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show, he said: “Somebody great is going to come up, I hope. I’d love to run for that kind of position to just have things be very common sense. There are so many things that this country needs to do that are so obvious.”

Alec isn’t the only celebrity who has been speculated as a possible Presidential candidate, as both Oprah Winfrey and Kanye West have been involved in political rumours in the past.

However, Oprah recently shot down speculation that she was considering running in 2020, as she said she would only step up if she was given a sign from God - which she wasn’t as of yet.

She said: “I went into prayer. 'God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.’ And I haven’t gotten that.”
