Ed Sheeran's waxwork is on display at a cat cafe in London

Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium - a two-storey spot in Bethnal Green for coffee and cake that allows friendly moggies to roam around freely - has agreed to exhibit the figurine of the 'Thinking Out Loud' hitmaker before it moves to Madame Tussauds next week

Madame Tussauds announced the news on Twitter on Tuesday (12.06.18) night, writing: "The cat's out of the bag, the amazing @edsheeran is coming to Madame Tussauds London and we can't hold in our excitement! Obviously he's stopped off at @LadyDinahsCats before coming to us. #EDcited (sic)."

The statue sees the chart-topping singer strumming on his guitar while wearing a blue and black checked shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a black T-shirt and jeans.

Madame Tussauds decided to leave the waxwork temporarily at the Cat Emporium as they know how much of a fan he is of the little felines - having two cats of his own.

Edward Fuller, manager at Madame Tussauds in London, said in a statement about the waxwork's stop: "Knowing what a pet lover he is, launching the figure at London's renowned cat cafe felt like something the man himself would surely approve of."

This is the first time a statue of the 27-year-old singer has been unveiled in London, and staff have been working on it since 2015, when they took his measurements.

Claire Treacy, of Madame Tussauds London, said in a statement: "We thought it was important to add him. We've been getting requests for a long time, literally one a week, saying, 'When are you going to add Ed?'

"So we thought the best time to do it would be when he's on his mammoth tour and he's coming to Wembley so this felt like the perfect week. It usually takes around four months to make each of our figures, that is the whole process from sculpting it in clay to then making the mould to creating the wax, then wardrobe and paint and hair insertion and then we have the added time to build something in the attraction.

"We have been building a giant guitar, a replica of Ed's own that will stand alongside him, and guests can play it and then his tunes will start playing out in the space."
