The Erebus Motorsport driver produced a scorching lap in qualifying at Darwin's Hidden Valley to ensure he starts at the front of the grid for this evening's race.
Reynolds edged out kiwi championship leader Scott McLaughlin to secure his first pole since 2015 and the eighth of his career.
Reynolds shed a tear after realising what he had achieved and says it means a lot for him, especially to beat the "qualifying king" McLaughlin.
Race one starts at 6:45pm.
