A Wellington-based University of Otago team is studying the effects of a mycotoxin producing mould - seeing if it's causing respiratory symptoms for people in damp houses.
Professor Julian Crane says overseas research shows mould can be present in wall boards - and they'll be seeing if that's the same story, here.
He says you could argue you don't need to know this to fix damp homes - but if they identified the exact problem it might be relatively easy to fix.
