Salmon farming could be the golden ticket to a more prosperous New Zealand economy

Salmon farming could be the golden ticket to a more prosperous New Zealand economy

Salmon industry leaders believe they've got what it takes to overtake dairy as the number one industry here, and are looking to salmon-aquaculture powerhouse Norway for inspiration.

New Zealand King Salmon chief executive Grant Rosewarne says our salmon is about three times more valuable than the Norwegian product.

He says they have the intellectual property to grow the supreme species, which is King salmon, rather than Atlantic salmon - and believes they have all the potential to become the most valuable industry in New Zealand.
