Trade Me has released its latest figures from its rental price index this morning.
They show the median rent in Queenstown Lakes has jumped 12.9 percent since January, making it the most expensive area in the country at $790 a week.
People looking to rent in Hawke's Bay also face a price jump, with rent rising 12.5 per cent on last year to a record $405.
But good news for the big cities - rents in Auckland and Wellington stalled in May, with the number of properties available in Auckland going up as well.
