We're being warned the number of New Zealanders suffering a stroke is about to sky-rocket

We're being warned the number of New Zealanders suffering a stroke is about to sky-rocket

A University of Otago study points to a 40 percent rise in strokes, over the next decade.

Associate Professor Anna Ranta says it's a lot more than she'd been expecting.

She says the health system needs to be preparing now by resourcing acute services, rehabilitation, and work on prevention.

Ranta says we can make a big difference by taking more of an interest in our own health.
