Max Darling is crediting a close to home influence for his continued basketball rise

The 17 year old forward took part in his first Tall Blacks training camp in Lower Hutt earlier in the week, ahead of their upcoming world cup qualifiers against Hong Kong and China.
Darling is having a breakout domestic season with the Canterbury Rams, averaging 10.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
Darling says Canterbury coach Mark Dickel has been one of the most influential people in his career thus far.
The Tall Blacks final squad of 14 players will be named tomorrow.
