After having previous premiership winning success in both the NRL and Super League competitions, Maguire began his tenure with a 38-18 loss to England in Denver this morning.
It was the first time the Kiwis and England had played in the United States and Maguire says it's been one of the best experiences he's had as a coach.
He says he hopes everyone realises how special international rugby league is.
The Kiwis fly out of Denver tomorrow, with the players to return to their respective NRL clubs.
