Slashing vehicle tyres is the latest crime wave to hit Whangarei - with at least 44 cars hit over two nights

Vehicles parked on streets were targeted over a large swathe of the city, starting on Friday night.
Whangarei police have been inundated with reports of multiple slashed tyres in a number of streets in Kamo, Tikipunga, Maunu and in Onerahi.
Police are appealing for information such as surveillance footage from members of the public in a bid to catch the culprits.
