A Taranaki supermarket is locking up its Manuka honey in an effort to stop it from being stolen

More than five thousand dollars worth of Manuka honey products have been pinched from Pak 'n Save New Plymouth in two weeks.
Empty jars now line the shelves which customers swap for full jars once they've paid.
Owner Peter Melody says there's no choice but to keep it behind the counter.
He says losing five thousand dollars worth of product in a fortnight is a clear signal changes are needed.
